There are few vacation disasters worse than waiting all year for your “fun in the sun” family vacation only to have it rained out by a tempermental coastal weather pattern. Fortunately, if the beach you’re planning to visit in 2019 is Myrtle Beach, SC you’ll have plenty of indoor family fun options for your beach-bound rainy days. Here are a few suggestions to beat the rainy day beach blues:
- Visit the Pearl Harbor Exhibit at Ripley’s Aquarium of Myrtle Beach
If you’re a history buff, Ripley’s Aquarium’s new Pearl Harbor exhibit is just the ticket for you, allowing you and your family to experience Pearl Harbor in an interactive environment. If history isn’t your thing, Ripley’s Aquarium also offers Shark and Stingray exhibits where visitors can observe these dangerous, but beautiful animals up-close. Get your visit to Ripley’s Aquarium started by checking out the hours here: https://www.ripleyaquariums.com/myrtlebeach/plan-visit/location-hours/
- Shop at Coastal Grand Mall
What better way to teach the kids the hardships we faced in the pre-online days of the 90’s when we had to actually purchase our clothes in person at a store than to take them to the mall? Coastal Grand Mall is open from 10am to 10pm most days and has over 100 stores for family of all ages to get lost in, including large department stores like Belks and Dillards. Don’t forget to visit the food court!
- See the Legends Perform at Broadway on the Beach
While Broadway on the Beach offers outside attractions and shopping, their most famous production, Legends in Concert, is a perfect fit for a rainy day. Legends in Concert is a performance experience your family won’t forget where the likes of Elvis, the Blues Brothers and Bob Marley are brought (back) to life. This full, live concert will transport you and make you forget the rain!
- Rack Em Up at 810 Billiards and Bowling
If your crew needs to burn off some energy, consider visiting 810 Billiards and Bowling. 810 Billiards and Bowling has 3 locations in the Myrtle Beach area, all of which offer bowling lanes and pool tables. If some of your group don’t enjoy bowling or pool, 810 Billiards and Bowling also offers foosball, darts and board games!
5. Fill your head at WonderWorks
Want to know what it feels like to stand outside in a hurricane? What it feels like to sit (sort of) in the Mercury capsule? How about just dancing on a giant piano like they did in the movie “Big”? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then WonderWorks is for you! There’s something for everyone so our whole family will enjoy learning and experiencing at WonderWorks. Check out their website to see their full menu of interactive attractions here: https://www.wonderworksonline.com/myrtle-beach
